Announcing the William Warfield Musicscape
We are thrilled to share an exciting vision for the future of our community—the William Warfield Musicscape! This initiative will transform a space near School #9 and the Jackson R-Center into a vibrant, interactive, and inspiring hub for music and creativity
What is the William Warfield Musicscape?
The Musicscape will feature oversized musical instruments that children and adults alike can play and utilize for concerts, music classes, and creative events. This unique space will be a welcoming inner-city destination for everyone to experience the joy of music, supported by Rochester’s incredible music schools through pop-up concerts and educational programming.
Why this location?
This project is deeply rooted in William Warfield’s legacy. The site—beside School #9—honors his connection to the community, as it was his alma mater and is just steps away from William Warfield Way and his home church, Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.
How can you help?
We are kicking off fundraising for this incredible project today, with the goal of unveiling the Musicscape in Spring 2026 as part of the William Warfield Scholarship Fund’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations. Your support will help us purchase the instruments, name the Musicscape, and bring this vision to life.
